Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura will always be my favourite magical girl animes. For one reason, it’s because I grew up with them, but also because Usagi/Serena and Sakura are heroes to me. They always will be. No anime females inspired me in the same ways those two did.

CCS YEs. Sailor Moon? Not so sure.

While I loved the Cardcaptor Sakura anime series, I would like there to be a remake of the series, this time following the manga more closely. Chapter 50 gave me so many feels (especially towards the end) and I want to see that animated.

I love how Cardcaptor Sakura shows a lot of different kinds of love and affective relationships in a really sensitive and sweet light. It helped to shape my vision of love while I grew up, and I’m really grateful to that.

Modguy Note: A line in the TV Tropes page comes to mind, and I just want to add that on here since it’s so heartwarming.

CLAMP purposely made Cardcaptor Sakura a place where there is acceptance of all minorities, sexual orientations, children, adults, boys, girls… to set a good example for the children growing up watching it. Which is actually a lovely idea…

An amazing thing. CCS for me has always been more about the character relationships than the plot.

I was going to put a comment here, but I can’t actually think of how to explain the feels.

Recently Read

I’ve not really had time to do my normal mini-reviews of books recently. So here are my reactions

Uglies + Specials (books 2 and 3 of a trilogy) - Scott Westerfield. Plot-indued narrator voice change is initially jarring. Enjoyed book 3 particularly. Book 2 was… a middle-ish book.

Obliviion (Final book in Power of Five series) - Anthony Horowitz. Very awesome up until the Antarctica scenes. Then it seemed to loose the awesomeness and became very predictable.

The Last Little Blue Envelope (Final book in a duology) - Maureen Johnson. Initially hesitent. Not quite as awesome as the first book, but still rated highly.

Cardcaptor Sakura (Volume 4 - Final) - CLAMP/DarkHorse Manga. Usual high standard with much love. Some differences to anime. Only thing I’d fault would be the slight spine design change from the previous three volumes.

As a boy who likes magical girl animes, I get made fun of a lot. there have been times where I try to stop watching them just so I don’t get bullied, yet I can never stop. no matter how much I try because shows like, sailor moon or cardcaptors always brings me to a happy place. and they make all of the teasing go away. I guess that’s why I’m such a fan of them.

This. Oh Dear God This. Maybe it’s why I enjoy Magical Girl far far more than any other genre of anime. (Much the same as me with Fantasy books).
