Egwene is awesome. She is my third favorite character in Wheel of Time, after Mat and Rand.
I’m not an Egwene hater by any means, and I really do like her. It’s just that she has some huge blind-spots when it comes to a) the Seanchan and b) the three ta’veren. See for instance ToM where she thinks that she resisted the ta’veren influence in The Amrylins Anger, rather than realising the Pattern needed her to speak to Rand. (Whether her conclusions on the seals are right or wrong I’ll leave up for debate)

Hmmmm…. this is hard. I hate questions like this.
Well obviously Rand, I mean, I was born to like save the world, and go mad doing it.

I don’t think I can identify with the three ta’veren really. Hmmm…. Uhhhh…..
I’m drawing a blank here guys.
Perhaps Loial. He likes reading I like reading. He doesn’t rush decisions, and neither do I. There we go. I AM LOIAL.

Wheel of Time 30 Day Challenge: Day 4: Who are your favourite & least favourite characters in the series?
Now this is har, I love and hate all of them in equal measure.
Actually, that’s not quite true
Least Favourite: Tuon. Slave-Driving, Hypocritical, frustratingly blinded.
Favourite? Gee I don’t know. As of the end of ToM it’s Egwene and Perrin. But I don’t like emo-Perrin in the mid-range books, and Egwene seems to still underestimate men.
I stoppped liking Rand after Moiraine. That said, in ToM he wasn’t too bad.
Actually, I think Loial. Always so cute and serious. Especially after the manor-house attack. >:D
Wheel of Time 30 day challenge: Day 2 How many times have you read through the series? If you’ve not finished it, which book are you on?
I’ve read the entire series once.
I’ve started one re-read, but got ‘stuck’ around book 10.
I restarted, this time with audiobooks, and am currently on book 3.
I’ve re-read TGS + TOM twice each.
Wheel of Time 30 Day challenge, Day 1: How did you get into the series? For how long have you been reading them?
Let’s think. I was definitely reading it in second year of sixth form, so about 3 years ago.
It was probably Easter. I bought book 1: The Eye of The World and read that. Next day I went back out and got books 2 through 5, and ordered the rest (up to book 11 at the time) from Amazon. Then I marathoned them. I don’t think I was probably that sociable at that particular point in my life.
If I remember correctly, I then immediately started re-reading, and found Dragonmount / Theoryland.
And that is how it began.
Why is well written fan-fiction so hard to come by?
Suggestions please!
Original fanfiction is welcome, but I would like it to include a well-thought-out magic system.
Fanfiction set in the following universes is also good.

I probably could gush over each and every one, but since Rand Al’Thor is inevitably my favourite character and the scene depicted is perhaps the most pivotal in the series this was always going to be the one I chose.
